National Bloody Mary Day: Your Cocktail Guide to Ring in The New Year

It seems like Bloody Marys become more popular every day. Starting the day off right? Curing your hangover from the day before? Either way, they’re unstoppable, and since it’s coming up on National Bloody Mary Day, here are some of our favorites, plus what they put in them, for those of you who can make it out of the house on New Years Day.

SHUCK OYSTER BAR | COSTA MESA, CA

This Costa Mesa Oyster bar is nestled into the SoCo Collection's OC Mix, and they're pumping out the freshest seafood fare. But wait, they also offer an exceptional drink selection, including their own take on the beloved Bloody Mary. Soju based, this Bloody is for anyone and everyone. Fresh tomato juice is combined with a heavy pour of Soju, house made habanero honey hot sauce, and a garnish of the house pickles - cucumbers, carrots and olives. Add that spicy, salty Tajin all around that rim rim and your tastebuds are sure to dance any hangover away.

SOCIAL | COSTA MESA, CA

Among Social’s rock solid brunch menu, you’ll find a multitude of morning drinks (because the morning is the best time to drink, according to real science that we didn’t just make up). Definitely go for the Social Mary, with your choice of vodka, Social’s excellent homemade Bloody Mary mix, seasonal vegetables, and lemon. See, there’s vegetables, so it’s healthy.

TAPS FISH HOUSE & BREWERY | BREA, CORONA, IRVINE

Sometimes all the beer and all the breweries in all the world won’t do the trick -- lucky for you Taps has a rockstar Bloody Mary. Choose a vodka, then they’ll load it up with their very own Taps Bloody Mary mix (which is #onpoint), bacon, fresh veggies, and a cream ale back. You’ve got all those things in your house, right? Of course you do. Get to work.

THE HANGOUT | SEAL BEACH & HUNTINGTON BEACH

The Hangout does multiple Bloody Mary options, ranging from basic (with jalapeño-infused Tito’s, so really, just how basic is?) to their Elite Surf N Turf, in a 16oz pint glass, complete with Grey Goose, a crisp strip of bacon, two jumbo shrimp, olives, fresh cut celery, lemon, lime, and a salted rim. Pretty hard to beat.

JIMMY'S FAMOUS AMERICAN TAVERN | BREA

Jimmy’s just kind of lost their minds when they were designing their perfect Bloody, because they pretty much made an entire meal out of it. For only $15 you can do the Meal Mary, a beastly creation full of Absolut Peppar, Bloody Mary mix, bacon, a blue cheese olive, chilled shrimp, pepperoni, jack cheese, pepperoncini, and a jalapeño “bedeviled” egg. That right there, is a morning cocktail for the ages.
